Bultfontein Road
As part of routine monitoring, De Beers Group has recently observed ground movement on the
eastern part of the Big Hole pit next to Bultfontein Road. Plans are underway to further
investigate the possibility of the ground movement extending into Bultfontein Road.
Engagements have been convened with the municipality and the taxi association and there is
consensus regarding the potential risks posed to the residents, visitors, businesses, and
properties of Kimberley and the need for urgent action to be taken to mitigate the said risks. At
this stage, investigations have not revealed the precise genesis of the ground movement that
have since been observed.
